Job Title: Head Accountant

 

Location: Wuse Zone 1,(FCT)

 

Employment Type: Full_time

 

Salary: Negotiable

 

 

Description: The Head of Account is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all

financial and store-level activities of the business. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity

of financial records, manages cash flow, and optimizes operations and vendor management to

drive profitability and customer satisfaction.

This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual with strong financial acumen,

operational expertise, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

* Accounting and Financial Management:

→ Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income

statements, and cash flow statements.

→ Manage all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts

receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

→ Develop and manage the company’s weekly operating budget, collaborating with other

department heads.

→ Implement and maintain internal controls across supply chain (store to sales) to prevent

theft, pilfering and ensure financial integrity.

→ Oversee inventory management, ordering, and cost control processes to minimize waste

and maximize profitability.

→ Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

→ Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements,

and tax laws.

→ Oversee external audits and ensure all financial records are accurate and compliant.

* Cash & Operations Management:

→ Directly or indirectly supervise cashier staff, ensuring proper training, adherence to

company policies, and excellent customer service.

→ Manage the POS system, including menu updates, pricing changes, and troubleshooting

technical issues.

→ Oversee the daily reconciliation of sales transactions and cash receipts to ensure

accuracy, and resolving overages and shortages to completeness.

* Vendor Management:

→ Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, negotiating favorable terms

and ensuring reliable supply of goods and services.

→ Implement and maintain inventory management systems to minimize waste and

maximize profitability.

→ Manage supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.

* Team Leadership & Development:

→ Lead and motivate the accounting and cashier teams to achieve performance goals,

fostering a collaborative and accountable team.

→ Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews to

develop team members.

→ Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

* Accuracy of Financial Statements: Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements

prepared.

* Cash Handling Efficiency: Manage cash handling procedures to ensure efficient

disbursements and minimize cash shortages.

* Budget Variance: Monitor variance between budgeted and actual spending.

* Cashier Performance: Monitor cashier performance and ensure they are well trained

* Inventory Management: Measure inventory turnover, track and minimize the amount of

inventory lost due to theft, spoilage, or other factors.

* Compliance with Audit Standards: Ensure that all stores comply with audit requirements

 

Requirements

At least 3–5 years in general accounting (bookkeeping, reporting, audits)

 

• 2–3 years in a senior role (Head Accountant, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant)

• Strong experience in cost control & pricing (very important for food/restaurant business)
