Role: Team Lead, Financial Institutions
Grade: Deputy Manager (DM) / Manager (MGR)
Location: Lagos
Job Summary:
The Team Lead, Financial Institutions, will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with local and international financial institutions, correspondent banks, multilateral agencies, and development finance institutions (DFIs). This role focuses on driving revenue generation through trade finance, correspondent banking, treasury, and structured finance opportunities. The candidate will also ensure compliance with regulatory standards, internal policies, and risk management requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Management:
Develop and manage relationships with correspondent banks, DFIs, multilaterals, and other financial institutions.
Negotiate credit lines, pricing, and terms of trade finance and interbank transactions.
Coach, mentor, and supervise the FI team to enhance productivity and professional development.
Business Development:
Identify and structure new business opportunities with FIs, including trade finance, risk participation, syndicated loans, and treasury partnerships.
Drive cross-border transactions and partnership initiatives that enhance the bank’s visibility and profitability.
Portfolio & Credit Management:
Monitor FI credit lines, exposures, and performance, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and covenants.
Prepare and review credit proposals, risk assessments, and credit line renewals in line with internal credit policies.
Liaise with Credit Risk and Compliance to ensure timely onboarding and risk reviews of FIs.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
Ensure adherence to KYC, AML/CFT, sanctions, and compliance requirements in all FI transactions.
Support internal and external audits related to FI activities.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and global banking standards affecting correspondent banking and FI relationships.
Strategic Input & Reporting:
Contribute to the development of the FI strategy, including annual budgets and growth plans.
Track performance KPIs, market trends, and provide regular management reports.
Represent the bank at industry events and strategic FI conferences as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Banking, or related discipline; Relevant qualifications.
Experience in banking, with at least 3 years in a Financial Institutions or Treasury-related role.
Proven track record in managing high-level institutional relationships and driving business growth.
